How fan scores become coin payouts at the table
| Pattern | Description | Fan |
|---|---|---|
| Self-draw win (Zi Mo) | All 3 opponents pay the winner | 0 |
| Discard win (Dian Pao) | Only the discarder pays the winner | 0 |
| Base stake = 1 coin | Multiplied by 2^(fan-1) for final payout | 0 |
| Example: 3 fan Zi Mo | Each opponent pays 4 coins (total +12) | 3 |
| Example: 3 fan Dian Pao | Discarder pays 4 coins (total +4) | 3 |
| Example: 4 fan Zi Mo | Each opponent pays 8 coins (total +24) | 4 |
When a player wins, each losing player pays them based on the fan multiplier and the table's base stake. In Sichuan Bloody mahjong, if you win by self-draw, all three opponents pay you. If you win off a discard, only the player who discarded pays (but at the same rate). The game continues until three players have won or tiles run out.
