This is what a winning hand looks like — 14 tiles that form a complete set. But how is it organized? Let's break it down.

4 Melds + 1 Pair

Sequence(1 of bamboo, 2 of bamboo, 3 of bamboo)
Triplet(5 of characters, 5 of characters, 5 of characters)
Sequence(7 of dots, 8 of dots, 9 of dots)
Triplet(4 of bamboo, 4 of bamboo, 4 of bamboo)
Pair(2 of dots, 2 of dots)

To win, you need exactly 4 groups (called melds) and 1 pair. A meld is a group of 3 tiles that go together — either a sequence (3 consecutive tiles in the same suit, like 1-2-3) or a triplet (3 copies of the same tile, like 5-5-5). A pair is simply 2 identical tiles.
